"Luminous Symphony" begins with an intro and progresses on a journey of light to its fourth movement, the finale. Light slowly spreads through the darkness, welcoming the audience with a mystical scene of twinkling cosmos and stars. Its fusion of traditional Korean patterns and modern architectural patterns reveals the beauty of the East. The gradually expanding sphere of light unfolds like the architectural wings, hinting at a bright future. The stream of light, connecting Seoul and other cities around the world, embodies the image of a future city within a global network. A skyline incorporating eco-friendly technology presents a vision of a sustainable city, and in the finale, various light elements come together to express the grandeur of Earth and the universe. Concluding this magnificent journey, where past and future, East and West, intersect, this work reinterprets space through light in each scene, unfolding a dazzling display of light where the city and nature coexist.

Signature
The "Shining Journey" video mapping presented at 2024 Seoul Light pays homage to Korean tradition and Gwanghwamun Gate by featuring the Samtaegeuk, a traditional Korean pattern symbolizing heaven, earth, and humanity, and the Rose of Sharon, the national flower of South Korea. It also highlights the architectural design of Gwanghwamun Gate, which resembles a soaring bird. The soaring crane, a symbol of grandeur, visualizes Seoul's rise as a global city. It tells the story of Korean national pride and captures the journey of Seoul and Gwanghwamun Gate toward an ideal future by harmoniously blending nature and technology.

The video mapping work, Suprême Ultime, traces the evolution of Gwanghwamun, the symbol of Seoul, and explores its past, present, and future through architecture, culture, and art. Blending classic French sculptures, pop culture, the Louvre Gate (the French equivalent of Gwanghwamun), and contemporary Seoul architecture, the work interweaves the symbols, histories, and cultures of Seoul and Paris, presenting a crossover of Seoul and Paris, each city responding to the other. Visually shifting across time zones, the work dynamically and rhythmically pays homage to the significant architecture and symbolism of each city, telling the story of Gwanghwamun through energetic transitions. From a historical legacy to a projection of an ecological and innovative future, our video mapping work celebrates the ongoing transformation of Gwanghwamun and Seoul, reinterpreting and capturing the vibrant, ever-changing spirit of the city.

"Elemental Symphony" is a visual exploration of the fundamental energies that maintain the balance of the universe. The project represents the eternal dance between light and dark, fire and water, movement and stillness. These forces do not simply coexist, but are interdependent, creating a harmonious flow that breathes life into the universe. Furthermore, these natural elements evoke the landscape of Seoul, where nature and the city coexist, and the Korean philosophy of emphasizing nature, and are inspired by the intense light power of Gwanghwamun. This concept emphasizes the importance of duality and dynamic balance as essential principles for understanding the natural world and human structures. Through a visual narrative expressing unity in diversity, the beauty of the eternal cycle of creation and transformation is revealed.

ELEMENTAL SYMPHONY

Lim Tae-gyu's existing paintings uniquely modernize Korean painting materials, maintaining the philosophy of Eastern art while projecting and expressing aspects of modern life. His video works, created based on these paintings, faithfully reinterpret the original painting's feel into video, conveying the analog painting's sensibility and artistic inspiration, unavailable in other works created solely as videos. The title "erehwon" is a reversed version of the word "nowhere," meaning a nonexistent space. We call a utopia a space people dream of, a place that does not exist in reality, rather than the real world in which they live. By imagining and expressing various modern people enjoying life in their own unique utopias, he hopes to evoke a sense of innocence and hope lost in the busyness of modern life.

Emit Your Light
Engsio's "Emit Your Light" tells the story of a journey to discover the different perspectives of how we view ourselves, how we view society, and how society views us, and to discover our own unique sensibilities and colors forgotten in the repetitiveness of everyday life. Using real-time camera sensors and AI image processing technology, this work intuitively and honestly depicts the four stages of self-discovery envisioned by Engsio. His work conveys a warm and cheerful message: through the interplay of diverse perspectives that emerge as the viewers pass through these cameras, they hope to discover and radiate their own unique light.

Chrono
Passage
This installation art piece expresses the flow of time, space, and light. Through its intricately arranged structure and rhythmic light, the work offers a new synesthetic experience. Within the historical context and urban landscape of Gwanghwamun, the work functions as a portal connecting the past, present, and future of Gwanghwamun, allowing viewers to visually and sensorially experience the passage of time and the preciousness of moments. The intricate grid structure and light arrangements capture the orderly flow of time, yet also its flexibility and infinite potential. Passing through the work's portal, the viewer becomes a subject who moves and interacts with time, not merely observing. As they experience the shifting light both inside and outside the work, they perceive and enjoy the visual landscape that changes with their movements and position, and they can add their own narrative to it. This work will become a portal that allows them to encounter time in a new way, at the boundary between moment and flow.

Spirit in Nature
Bosul Kim
Spirit in Nature is a media artwork set in a world of the near-future, which has been reshaped by flooding caused by climate change. It revolves around the discovery of a life archive storage unit containing the information and memories of all living beings. This discovery results in the awakening of hybrid lifeforms that blend the genetic makeup and features of humans and non-humans, as well as Eastern and Western traditions. The artist integrates various technological media, including motion capture, AI, and game engines, aiming to offer an experience that explores and contemplates the origins of life within a reimagined space-time connecting the past and the future.
Connecting your dreams
Nsyme
Connecting Your Dreams explores the boundary between dreams and reality. Brushstroke-like lines form shapes that depict jellyfish and flowers, symbolizing reality. Within the artwork, reality momentarily flickers, allowing symbolic figures like dragons and monsters to emerge and invite viewers into the realm of dreams. Through this transition, dreams (dragons and monsters) and reality (jellyfish and flowers) are connected by lines, forming a unified flow that conveys a dual meaning. Through this work, viewers are led to experience the moment where dreams and reality intersect within their subconscious.
Patterns of Symbiosis : Coexisting Patterns
Yunsu Joung
Patterns of Symbiosis: Coexisting Patterns is a media façade artwork that explores the patterns of the living world. Drawing inspiration from Alan Turing's reaction-diffusion system theory proposed in the 1950s, this work decodes the complex patterns found in nature through two mathematical principles: activation and inhibition. Using this theory, the artist visually recreates patterns that transcend the boundaries between nature and humanity, as well as between reality and the virtual world. The artwork presents vibrant patterns created through the processes of activation and inhibition and explores the essence of an interconnected world by reversing the agents of activation and inhibition depending on the observer’s perspective. Through this process, viewers discover how intricate and deeply interconnected our world is, gaining a renewed awareness of their place within it.
Meme-ified Vandalism: Legacy
Daphne Jiyeon Jang
Meme-ified Vandalism: Legacy is an artwork that reinterprets historical symbols through a contemporary lens, exploring digital-age vandalism and meme culture. The Duke of Wellington statue in front of the Gallery of Modern Art in Glasgow, UK, has been transformed into a modern icon through a meme, where citizens place a traffic cone on its head. The artwork examines the distinction between vandalism and memes, rediscovering the value of cultural heritage and reflecting on how it can be preserved. Additionally, it aims to reassess the distorted cultural perceptions shaped by the Gwanghwamun graffiti incident.
Tectonic Worm 002
oOps.50656 (Hwang Seon-jeong, Moon Kyu-chul)
Tectonic Worm is a symbiotic landscape where trees, rendered using an organic algorithm, move rhythmically based on Seoul's climate data. As organic life forms growing in the heart of Seoul, the trees, driven by the rhythm of nature, create an organic landscape. The dancing Tanhamu shaman exchanges energy among the trees on the screen, performing a rhythmic dance. By sensually conveying the flow of nature within the city, the work breathes new life into everyday landscapes.
Innermost Landscape(Aria)
oOps.50656 (Hwang Seon-jeong, Moon Kyu-chul)
Innermost Landscape is a nonlinear spatial-temporal landscape that explores the rhythms of the deepest inner self through the abstraction of ink painting. Unique rhythms, energy cycles, and waveforms inherent in nature and the human inner self are transformed into rhythmic ink lines, flowing freely in and out of water and moving organically. This work, which evokes a sense of inherent vitality, invites the viewer to experience the essence of sensation and guides them into a state of profound resonance.
